The most dangerous and fatal diseases Caused by the obesity

Most people think that the obesity epidemic is not dangerous but they are wrong because obesity causes diseases in the body, and sometimes these diseases can cause the death.
When people are affected by the obesity epidemic it is more likely that they will contract diseases. If they cure their obesity, they can cure these diseases.

There exist a lot of diseases caused by obesity but some of them are very dangerous and greatly affect the obese person´s health.

As a result of obesity, people can have a lot of faults in their bodies, like diseases. One of the most important and dangerous is heart disease. Obesity can also cause several diseases, including multiple cancers. These cancers appear in some areas that are indispensable for the organism.

In women, these include cancer of the uterus, gallbladder, cervix, ovary, breast, and colon. Overweight men are at higher risk for developing colorectal cancer and prostate cancer”. Snoring is a disease because a lot of fat forms on the body that causes reactions and affects the respiratory system; this can cause several consequences because if you cannot breathe you cannot live.

In Mexico the lack of exercise and bad nutrition is causing childhood obesity that results in fatal diseases.

Introduction

Throughout time Mexico has been known as a country with bad habits because most Mexicans have the custom of eating fast-food with a lot of fats, few nutrients. Also the lack of exercise in childhood contributes to obesity in Mexico. Having an adequate habit of exercise can give a child good health. Videogames or watching television increases the risk of obesity.

Having exercise in life is very important to feeling good and to being in good shape. Unfortunately children do not know this. Adults are the ones that need to show children the benefits of exercise to help avoid the obesity, because when sedentary children grow up, they will become obese adults with a high risk of diseases. This can lead to can an early death. Being an obese child can cause damage to the mental health that can last a lifetime. Obese children are more likely to be bullied and as result when they grow up they became insecure.

One of the most dangerous diseases is diabetes, this disease is a disorder of metabolism; the process that turns food into energy. This disease is related to childhood obesity but when they are mixed is very dangerous.

Obesity is a common problem Mexico has and it is affecting children´s health and their development at the course life.

Childhood obesity causes damage to the mental health that can last a lifetime.

Obesity causes health problems and is now commonly affecting children. In almost all cases, obesity causes damage in the mental health of the individual.

“Obese adolescents are more likely than normal weight children to be victims of bullying, a study found, bolstering evidence that being fat endangers emotional as well as physical health.” www.medscape.com

Obese children are more likely to be bullied than their non obese peers regardless of sex, race, socioeconomic status, social skills, or academic achievement. This suggests that they are being bullied because of their weight and not for other reasons.

As the increases in childhood obesity continue, the damage in obese children remains pervasive. Bullying obese children starts with adults because they reflect their insecurity by remarking on the defects of others so children learn and grow with this behavior.

A study shows us the main types of bullying in childhood and demonstrates that obesity is the principal reason children are bullied at school.

Diabetes in children

The diabetes is a very dangerous disease; it can be the cause of a death at an early age. This disease is the disorder of metabolism; process that turn food into energy. When the digestion occurs the food is broken down to create glucose, the main source of energy of the body: this glucose mixes with the blood, and allows insulin in the cells.

There exsist 3 types of diabetes: Type 1 diabetes(previously known as
insulin-dependent diabetes) , Type 2 diabetes(previously known as non-
insulin dependent diabetes) , Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). The
type 2 diabetes is the most common and also the most dangerous because
affect 85-90% of the people with this desease.

Type 1 diabetes is the type that can appear at any age but is more
common to be detected at an early age.
“Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease where the body's immune
system destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. This type
of diabetes, also known as juvenile-onset diabetes, accounts for 10-15% of
all people with the disease”.

This disease have natural causes but it involves the diet in the person too.
“Is triggered by environmental factors such as viruses, diet or chemicals in
people genetically predisposed. People with type 1 diabetes must inject
themselves with insulin several times a day and follow a careful diet and
exercise plan.”

This disease is not common but in the world every day exist more cases,
but a strange data is that obesity doesn’t explain this increase because the
heredity play an important part in the type 1. But in Europe and America
the obesity in children cause the first cases of this type at an early age.

Parents busy schedules and fears about safety prevent many
children from taking part in after school programs

We all know exercise in our life is very important to feel better and to be in good
shape. We know that a good diet is important for not getting so many diseases and
avoid becoming overweight.
Unfortunately children not know this, they just like to have fun playing, jumping,
hiding, and doing all activities they like to do, just for fun. Adults are the ones that
need to show children the benefits of exercise to help them avoid the obesity; which is
one of the most dangerous diseases at this age.
Over the past 3 decades, the percentage of overweight school-age children has nearly
quadrupled (4% in 1965 to 15% in 2001) Data collected as part of the National Health
and Nutrition Examination Survey
”. The cause of this problem is that kids don’t
exercise because they are at home playing videogames or just eating.
It is important to recognize that obesity in many cases can be a preventable health
condition. While many factors including genetic predisposition contribute to obesity,
dietary behaviors and rates of physical activity are two major factors that can be
modified. Schools, families, and communities can work together to alter the trend
toward obesity
”. After school programs can improve dietary behaviors, by eliminating
junk food consumption that is common when children return home from school. Such
programs also increase physical activity rates among students.

Other problem is that the parent does not want to let the child go to certain activities
because the child can get hurt in the training or get disease from the sun, or something
wrong can happen.
These causes do not depend of the child because maybe he wants to go but the time
or the ideas of the parent stop him from going. This will be a problem when the kid
grows up because he wont have the habit of exercising , he will be more likely to stay
in the home just eating.

Videogames are an important factor in the lack of physical activity children currently get.

Every hour children play videogames or watch television increases the risk of obesity. Every hour a child is not exercising outside or having some physical activity can result in weight gain. Children currently choose videogames more than sports partially because parents think that videogames are easier and safer for them.Electronic games should be limited to prevent childhood obesity.” http://www.health.am/

Videogames are not the primary cause of childhood obesity but they can collaborate with a poor nutrition and other factors to cause children to gain weight. Scientists recommend that parents limit the amount of time their children are allowed to spend playing videogames. Combining a small amount of videogames with exercise and a good nutrition will result in a normal and healthy child.

There is a new generation of videogames, like Nintendo Wii, that combine electronic arts with physical movements. Some make virtual sports which make exercise the player at the same time he or she is playing.

These new types of videogames are being well accepted by parents so that they are playing the videogame with the family. “Through our testing it is clear that the motion sensor-controlled console can make an impact on a child’s heart rate, energy expenditure and the amount of calories burned” http://www.wiinintendo.net

Videogames in general are called sedentary activities just like watching TV and other activities that do not involve movement. Sedimentary activities are the opposite of physical activity so they are the least effective activities a child can use to fight obesity. The new generations of videogames are better than the old ones but no videogame is a substitute the benefit that traditional exercise has.

“Mexico has a big problem with nutrition because its food has a lot of fats”.

Throughout time México has been known as a country with bad habits in its culture. Most Mexican people eat food with a lot of fats but without many nutrients.

The obesity epidemic is strongly affecting Mexico; the most important factor is that Mexicans want to imitate other cultures and traditions."Like in the U.S., an increase in junk food and fast-food consumption is one of the causes of obesity in Mexico.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity_in_Mexico).

Some articles like food with a lot of fats are indispensable for some Mexican families, these things are consumed daily and they affect the health with serious consequences.

People who are obese as children are more likely to have
an early death when they become adults

When sedentary children grow up, they will become obese adults with a high risk of diseases, this is because it is difficult for overweight people to do important and essential physical activities such as dancing and participating in sports.
Most of the children are obese because they waste their time on activities that do not promote good health.

Adults are inclined to acquire weight faster because adults don’t have as much time as children do to attend to their bodies with exercise, also they don’t care to have a sculptural body and they eat a lot of fattening foods.

The amount of physical activity is an important factor that contributes to childhood obesity.

Parents play the most important role in the health of their sons and daughters because they have the greatest influence over their children. The final decision is made by the child but parents can be a positive influence to create good habits which contribute to good health and normal growth.

An important factor that contributes to childhood obesity is physical activity. Having an adequate habit of exercise can give a child good health. Combining physical activity with a good diet will result in healthy growth. “It is recommended that all children aged two and over get a minimum of 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise every day of the week, with 90 minutes preferred.”(http://www.kidsexercise.co.uk)

The amount of exercise should vary by the age but the numbers mentioned above are the regular standard for a normal kid to exercise.

It is necessary to create habits like playing a sport daily or walking with the family every weekend to have good health. “Increased physical activity has been associated with an increased life expectancy and decreased risk of cardiovascular disease.” (http://www.americanheart.org/)

Doing physical activities as a family may make it easier for the children to get enough exercise. Children would benefit in many ways from healthy physical activity they would:

§ Learn.

§ Have energy.

§ Maintain a healthy weight.

§ Avoid diseases

§ Get plenty of nutrients.

§ Feel good about themselves.

These benefits are not only from an adequate amount of physical activity, they are the combination of a good diet and exercise. Exercise is the most important resource we can use to fight childhood obesity in Mexico.
